Robert S. Tintner, Esquire
A Volunteer Child Advocate
Robert Tintner is a partner at the law firm of Fox Rothschild, LLP. He specializes in commercial litigation. Over ten years ago, a fellow attorney sparked his interest in volunteering with the Support Center for Child Advocates, and Bob has served as a Volunteer Child Advocate ever since. Bob finds his work as a volunteer child advocate to be very rewarding and interesting. It allows him to help children who would otherwise not be heard by the legal system and to use his legal skills for a greater purpose. Some of his cases have been challenging, yet he has never encountered any substantial problems with his commitment to the advocacy of children in need.
Bob states that, to some extent you form an emotional attachment with the children but that, as a professional, he always respects the attorney-client privilege and can separate the emotional aspect of each representation. Furthermore, as a volunteer child advocate he has some tough decisions to make. He has been able to utilize his commercial litigation skills such as in a case where a child had property interests that had to be addressed. Bob reports that the staff of the Support Center for Child Advocates are great. In his experience, they are very committed and dedicated to the cause and are very supportive of the work performed by their volunteer attorneys.
Bob is a huge supporter of pro bono work for attorneys. He states many attorneys simply do not understand the importance of pro bono work. It should not simply be a way to fill in an individual’s day or performed because of firm or employer encouragement. Rather, he feels that attorneys should want to do the work. They should use their skills to make people’s lives better. Bob also volunteers with other organizations such as Volunteers for the Indigent Program.
The Support Center for Child Advocates is proud to have Robert Tintner as a Volunteer Child Advocate. His dedication and commitment are outstanding. Robert Tintner is truly a “Philadelphia Lawyer.”
